Tea accidentally raises her brother from the dead, revealing to everyone that she is a bone witch. In this book, she has to train to become an asha (a type of performer/magician???) and deal with the hardships and negative reactions to bone witches and dark magic.
This book had so much potential but it fell flat for me. It seemed like there were no thrilling scenes except sorta one at the end. That wasn't even that thrilling because I was fast-reading to get the book over with. It was just. So. Slow. She was literally just training the whole time. There was no budding romance between her and the prince (well there is but it's so rarely mentioned or acted upon that I couldn't care less about the prince).
I tried my best to love this book, because it sounded so amazing, but I couldn't do it.
