The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen

Rating: 3.35/5 stars
☆☆★★★

An untested young princess must claim her throne, learn to become a queen, and combat a malevolent sorceress in an epic battle between light and darkness. This was the goodreads info. I couldn't find a better way to say it.

This book wasn't too bad, but I didn't fall in love with it like I thought I would. It's a lot of history and world building, to the point where it's way too slow and hard to really keep your attention. I couldn't read big chunks of this at a time without falling asleep. :(

I really do love the plot though! And Kelsea is such a great person and strong queen. It's so great that she cares about the issues of slavery and education. I haven't seen too much of that kind of governing before in fantasy books like this.

This book was also very Politics. Which is good if that's your kind of thing, but it became a bit too much for me. I needed more action.

Also I feel like the little quotes at the beginning of each chapter kept spoiling me!!!!!
